April 9th is Unicorn Day. Yup, that's right! Unicorn Day! There is something very whimsical when it comes to Unicorns. The thought that maybe somewhere out in our big world these beautiful creatures exist sends a child's imagination soaring to a land of rainbows and mythical creatures. A land where being different is celebrated and beautiful.
So I went on a search for books, treats, crafts, and treasures to help your little Unicorn embrace their differences.
Goodnight Unicorn by Karla Oceanak - Say Goodnight to all the different types of Unicorns and everyone who tends them. It's a magical bedtime story. It's a hardbound book that many generations can enjoy.
A Unicorn named Sparkle by Amy Young - I absolutely adore this book. It makes me smile just looking at the cover. Sweet Lucy buys a Unicorn in the mail for twenty-five cents and she can not wait until he arrives! I read this book once when I volunteered at a school and the sweetest little guy in the group stopped me with a "talk to the hand" motion and followed it with, "Ma'am I believe that little girl bought a goat!" I giggled to myself the entire rest of the day.
I'm a Unicorn by Mallory Loehr - It is impossible to go wrong with a Little Golden Book. This book is illustrated by Disney Artist Joey Chou and I love it.
Of course, we need treats! What will we eat while we read our books?
Unicorn Popcorn - Elizabeth over at Life Love Liz has a great tutorial on how to make Unicorn Popcorn. This is great for a birthday party favor or just a fun treat around the house.
Unicorn Poop Muddy Buddy Mix - Momdot.com put together a great tutorial for a little Unicorn Poop. Just the name makes little ones giggle and there is no greater sound!
Unicorn Bark - Bark is one of my favorite treats to make. With a base of chocolate, you can make almost any flavor just by adding some mix-ins. This is a great mix of pastel chocolate and sprinkles. Simple and cute!
Unicorn Rice Crispy Treats - This rice crispy treat made with a mix of regular and fruit rice cereal is easy, yummy and a perfect unicorn loving treat!
The Sweeter Side on Youtube shared this great tutorial on how to make a Unicorn Marshmallow Pops
We always keep some craft supplies on hand in our house for a rainy day so I was excited to find some fun Unicorn crafts to share.
Paper Plate Unicorn - Any type of mask or craft made with paper plates are always a treat for little ones and easy for mom. This Unicorn from Glued to My Crafts is so cute and perfect for little hands.
Unicorn Bookmark - I couldn't pass up this bookmark tutorial from Happy Go Lucky. So stink'in cute!
Unicorn Slime - My Frugal Adventures shared a great tutorial on how to make this fun Unicorn Slime. Kids love it!
If you have a Cricut or Silhouette this Unicorn SVG Set is perfect. It has different horns, colors, hair, and eyes. It allows you to customize your unicorn and make different versions all from one set.
ALWAYS BE YOU...UNLESS YOU CAN BE A UNICORN
Unicorn Headband - This Headband made by Four Little Girlz on Etsy has my heart. Just adorable! Perfect for Dress up at home or a Halloween Costume.
Unicorn Tutu - This rainbow tutu from Three Little Swans on Etsy is perfect for a little Unicorn in training! The colors are perfect and could be used for lots of different pretend play dates!
Unicorn Shirt - I love this little T. Can't we all just be Unicorns?!
I had so much fun with my Unicorn treasure hunt and I hope you will and your Littles will find something fun here to fill their imagination and your mom heart with happiness.
Thank you so much for joining me.
